Just curious, what's the biggest game a .22 rifle will dispatch cleanly.

Rabbits and squirrels I guess. Not sure if it's a good idea to shoot foxes with them. Most people I know shoot foxes with a 223.

A .22 rifle not an air rifle sorry if I confused anyone. I have heard of small deer being killed with one.

It depends on the distance. It will take rabbits at up to 100yds. Some people have (supposedly - forum 'talk') shot foxes with a .22lr, and I imagine it can be done up to, say, 40 yards, although personally I don't think I'd be willing to take the risk of just injuring it.

I definitely wouldn't try it on a deer, not even a muntjac.

Les you are right there. If I cant eat it I wont shoot it. And as for bunny popping. 3 would be good enough for me to shoot.
Shoot them all on the one day and you spend a lot of time at home.

Biggest fog fox the farmer had seen dropped like a stone from a broadside chest shot from the .22 BRNO that now resides with Badger
An old FN manual for the .22 take-down model showed an Italian hunter with several swans & geese.
Lots bigger things have fallen to the .22 over the decades.

I read that 40gn is required when culling badgers.

A well placed .22LR will humanely drop a Fox.
