10/22 after market barrel

Evening folks
first post on here and looking for some advice, im currently rearranging my old 10/22 and am looking at after market barrels and have narrowed it down to the green mountain 16" fluted and the volquartsen carbon fibre.
Read many reviews online but was wondering what peoples first hand experience is

I have had 10/22 with both, I would go for the 12" Carbon Fibre - Contact Roger @ South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies - he has them in stock. I have a polished match carbon fibre gun is very easy to point and shoot and is light. A real pleasure to shoot. See also Roger's RimFire Magic 10/22 action.

I was contemplating the 12.5 as it would be handy but wasnt sure if they were too light and whether accuracy was as good as the 16"

Over 25M no difference between the 12 and 16. If you are going to shoot on a regular basis 50M plus look at the 16.

On a good day on a rest can put 10 rounds with my 12" in a hole made by two rounds. So very accurate, but not up to bench rest standard. For Gallery rifle the 12' is great, also very good for practical. We have both 16 and 12 at the club, most of the newer upgrades have been for the 12" Carbon. Plus it looks cool, with the stainless muzzle break. I will post a picture on mine tomorrow when I have access to my drop box.

Its mainly for rabbits/squirrels and the odd mink am leaning towards the 16" as im over 6ft and may find it more stable in the shoulder

Ok for vermin rather than target would agree 16"

Very different things, green mountain fluted is very accurate but quite heavy, the carbon fibre is much lighter of course. Wentworth have both in stock in Nottingham or Roger at rimfire Magic too.

Have you looked into the new drop-in trigger Ruger is offering for their 10-22s? It's called the BX-TRIGGER. Just got one and the trigger-pull is head and shoulders above the regular trigger. Much lower pull-weight (2.5 - 3.0 pounds), less overtravel and a positive reset - it's like night and day. It also comes with an extended magazine release. If you are going to the trouble of getting a new barrel, why not get one of these as well?

I was contemplating a new trigger but had a look online and in a few books and had a go myself, polishing and a slight file here and there with the intension of if I knacker it I'll buy a new one but ive got the standard from 6.5lbs to 2.5lb there is a very small amount of creep but i'll see how it goes.
Out of interest how much are the BX triggers

I've used both competitively. Shot the GM for years but found it heavy for shooting supported. Switched to the VQ a year ago and after a little adjusting to the lack of weight, I prefer it. The 12.5 will easily shoot out to 50m and beyond, just look at the competitors at Bisley.

Advice - try and shoot both as they are two different animals.
