For a viable mini rifle gun, your only real current option for an AK is the GSG. As I understand it they operate OK but in my opinion they look terrible. If I wanted something unique with reasonable looks, mag capacity and reliability I would probably go for a Pietta PPS50 (PPSH-41 lookalike).
I'd be bidding as well Tovarisch ussrflag.

I agree with you on the looks of the GSG as well.It just dawned on me that Chiappa do the AK22 which looks really good for a copy but I don't know if anyone imports them into the UK.

I don't think they ever produced it, I have never seen any for sale. Shame really as build-wise it looked quite similar to the Saiga 22. The Saiga 22 was meant to be rolled out more widely in Russia as part of a "youth training" program, although I have not seen any evidence of this happening.

I believe the Russians justed said sod it and used the AK-74 to train them, it's not like they are short of them and 5.45x39 ammo!.

Edgars are the UK importers for Chiappa (not sure if this is still current: http://www.edgarbrothers.com/pages/Chia ... ageid=3537)

Perhaps give them a prod and see if they can't bring a batch in?

I've used the GSG one quite a bit and it was pretty naff.

Someone did make a body kit for the 10/22 that has since been discontinued though.
