Scopes for a new FAC shooter

#1 Post by Daz »

Hi Everyone,
Just got my FAC through and after many hours reading on here decided to buy CZ 452 22LR and a CZ 455 17HMR. The question is What scopes would you guys recommend to put on them. My budget is around £500 per scope. I did warn you I would be picking your brains.
Thanking you in anticipation

What you going to be using them for? (Pest control, target shooting - which disciplines etc)

Sorry my apologies, I will be using them for vermin control. Rabbits, corvids and maybe close range foxes.

Have a look at the Hawke range - you could probably get two scopes for around £500. A lot of air rifle scopes will work well on a .22lr, so don't overlook them. I've never had a .17HMR, so I'll leave that one to the experts. ;)

I got myself a Sightron Tac for my CZ452 (see thread here http://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... 9&start=10). I'm really happy with it considering it was less than £200. The great thing about this scope is that it has adjustable parallax down to 10m. If you don't need up to 12 mag, then I would recommend finding a Simmons 1.5-4x20 on eBay somewhere. These scopes have amazing clarity considering the price (I got mine used a few years ago for £75) but you might struggle to find them.

IF

You are looking at close range but still want some megnification, could I suggest looking at the MTC Viper Connect.

I used these on my air rifles (I still have a prototype on my one remaining air rifle) and they have a massive FOV even at higher mags and are very good in low light.

Ret is rather good as well.

They are a close eye relief scope but this was said not to be a problem on small bores, some even using them on a .223.

Thanks Guys,
Quite a few of the suggestions that have been made are what I have been looking at. I wanted to get the opinions of guys who have tried and tested. I'm looking at maybe going down the Hawke route.
Thank you for your time guys.

I've a Nikon Prostaff on my hmr and one on my HW77. Very good scopes for the money, and very good in low light.

+1 on the Nikon Pro Staff EFR 4-9x40AO, friend who uses Hawke tried it the other week and commented how clear it was.
