Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo

Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
Heard good things about Eley Match but have rarely used it, only really shoot it through other people's rifles who use it on theirs. But they all have good results with it, on both semi and bolt action.
Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
Thunderbolt worked fine in my 15-22 with the odd ftf. Currently use Blazer which are great.
Not tried CCI std or minimag.
If they are cleaner than Blazer then that would be nice as the 15-22 bolt cartridge face gets cruddy very quickly.
Lapua match are crap in the 15-22. Covered in a really sticky wax so bad I had to manually clear the rifle every shot.

Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
It failed to fully chamber in my K22 about five times out of ten. There's a reason why it's so absurdly cheap. RWS Semi Auto seems to be this gun's favourite: flawless feeding, accurate, and reliable.
Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
I've had far too many issues with thunderbolt in semis. Repeatedly. Horrible stuff.
Golden bullet looks like I have been using a shotgun in my 10/22.

Remington might make decent rifles, but their rimfire ammunition is definitely lacking in quality.

Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
I have never previously had any problems with Remington rimfire ammunition. Having said that - apparently the folks at Remington have changed their production methods and lubricant and on the US shooting forums these are now known as 'Thunderturds' . They even just issued a recall for two specific Lots as the projectiles may not be properly crimped into the case and could come out on chambering.

This is really annoying as I just bought two 500 rounds bricks of the stuff for my rabbit-culling. I'm just off to check the Lot/Batch number.

Don't waste your money, we don't sell it in the club anymore, it was as good as useless.
Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
Tried a box of Thunderbolts in my CZ511, ended up as jam city.
I use CCI Blazer in the GSG 522, it's cheap, has good quality control and is pretty accurate. Wouldn't mind trying the Golden Bullets, have a heard a few good reports.

Re: Remington Thunderbolt = Rubbish Ammo
Used to by tonnes of thunderbolt as it was one of the few types of ammo my Walther G22 liked!
However, everything else I've ever owned hates it, even had a few that were so badly made they wouldn't chamber in a bolt gun!
Only brand of .22 that my ARX wont feed.
Currently using federal HV, getting it from my club at £30 per 100, does the job and shoots pretty well.
