What British army units use this type of trainig, i have never seen it. ?
Re: Give your training partner a sucking chest wound
It was all live ammo, no BFA was issued, no hearing protection either, you'll need to speak up!Les wrote:The South African Defence Force used to have live-firing training ....they may still do it, for all I know. It certainly helps to focus the mind, that's for sure!

Eastern Europeans, you gotta luv them

I know, lets all form a big union and have them as part of our united countries , bring some professionalism to our army

I love those guys
Re: Give your training partner a sucking chest wound
All personnel going through Phase one at Harrogate or Phase 2 (CIC) at catterick will experience it on final battle camp, SCBC & PSBC at Brecon use it.ordnance wrote:What British army units use this type of trainig, i have never seen it. ?
any unit can do it as long as they have the kit (Which can be demanded in on loan- you just need Cl1 Armourers to sign the kit into use) and they write the RASP for it.
most don't as its a lot of effort and admin

Don't forget the SAS use live rounds in the Killing House, with only a split second to determine which is the target and which is their mate/mates.nickb834 wrote:Just saw this one for Indonesia - f**k that for a game of soldiers![]()

Did you see how close the rounds were impacting - barely 12" from the poor prone grunt, doesn't take much s*** shooting to cock that up at 15 yards!snayperskaya wrote:Don't forget the SAS use live rounds in the Killing House, with only a split second to determine which is the target and which is their mate/mates.nickb834 wrote:Just saw this one for Indonesia - f**k that for a game of soldiers![]()

I can't say as I know much about the boys in Hereford and whatever training they get upto - heard of the killing house of course but me being fat, lazy and blind - never went for selection "when I was in". I did briefly consider 216 sqn or perhaps even 264 sqn (Aldershot and Hereford respectively) but that was for about .1 of a picosecond and reality kicked back in

Also - you may not be aware of this - but even rear echelon numpties (like me - R.Signals) did / do training where you and a mate (or some random tube you couldn't stand - whatever!) did fire in pairs manouvres using live ammo (might have been 22RF conversion - can't remember, was circa '95 in Barry Buddon after all!). Anyhoo - rounds whizzing by at approx 10 feet distance as you advanced forward to next cover, but the crucial difference though between us and the Indonesian approach - each shooter was accompanied by training staff and told when to move etc.
