baikal over under 12g problem
Hi guys im looking for some help with my Baikal over under.firstly when I fired it today it engaged the safety by itself after the first shot but when fired with snap caps this doesn't happen.also can anyone tell me how to take the ejectors out as the bottom one is sticking.it's been sitting on a shelf for a while so needs some tlc.thanks
Re: baikal over under 12g problem
I think to remove the ejector, push it in so it is not catching on the small catch. Then push the catch down out of the way, release the ejector and bobs ur uncle.
But, I would try soaking it and the rest of the lock in a thin oil/gun cleaner first.

Baikals are great guns but sometimes need a bit of attention.
To remove the ejectors this Video method works for most O/U Guns. I just tried it on one of my Baikals, a bit fiddly but it works.
The Auto safety coming on is probably just due to a well used gun and the parts wearing smooth.
The Auto safety is a nuisance anyway, I just remove the transfer bar (Arrowed) either by knocking out the relevant pins (Which I did the first time) but on the rest I just cut the bar in half with a Dremel cutoff tool.
To check how old the Gun is - If there are no letters in the serial number, the first two numbers are the date of manufacture. If there are letters, a bit harder, the following cryptic doc. should be of help. If you really want to know it's history Baikal usually will respond to an email.

And if anyone says Baikals are rubbish, show them this one belonging to Putin himself. razz

Love it when people criticize Baikal Guns, it helps to ensure they can be picked up for silly money. I collect them, my favourite is a mint O/U, cost £75.00.Hunter87 wrote:There built like tanks unfortunately the look like them too
BTW there are two Perazzi owners in my club, one O/U has had two major breakages (A new top lever costs £250 for part alone), and the other a S/S cost £10,000 has been returned twice as the fore end keeps coming loose. razz

Re: baikal over under 12g problem
Big fan of the Baikals, when I used to shoot clays the Baikal was the only O/U I could get decent scores with, tried all the Brownings, Mirokus and the like at £1000 plus but they could never better my scores for all that money.
Mind you when I was serious about competing an O/U was never my gun of choice, give me a good side by side any day for hitting things live or inanimate.

I was always a fan of the Baikal cartridges however they always seemed to end up being banned at the grounds around us.
Re: baikal over under 12g problem
Hi ovenpaa.May I ask why they end up being banned.
