The Revenant.
What a dismal, grey, tedious, substance less, post modern indulgent crap at least 1 1/2 hours too long.
If the Hugh Glass story was so boring why tell it?
Man in the Wilderness was a far more entertaining telling of the tale.
It has to be up there with Meeks Cut Off and Slow West as westerns to go to sleep to.
Still the first 20 minutes or so are worth a flick through for the selection of flintlock pistols, long rifles and trade muskets so long as you don't take their on screen management to heart too much.

Re: The Revenant.
Strange - I agree with you!
I watched the first 20 minutes and then gave it up as a bad job.
If you want a good film The Martian is up there. The book by Andy Weir is so much better though, for those of you who can be bothered to read books.

Re: The Revenant.
I forced myself to sit through The Hateful Eight, what a waste of almost 3Hrs, could have easily chopped it down to an hour.
Quite enjoyed Bridge of Spies :)

Re: The Revenant.
Not in the martian, thought Hateful 8 could be in the transitional period so converted muzzle loaders maybe? Do what I'm doing Dromia, save yourself the trouble and wait until feb 10 and see deadpool. No muzzle loaders but from all the test footage and the like at least entertaining (Deadpool is marvel's best kept secret). Also with Revenant we at least get another year of Dicraprio being denied an Oscar.dromia wrote:Are there muzzle loaders in them films?
I seem to recall Dicaprio was in a better western in the form of the quick and the dead also.
Re: The Revenant.
The Revenant isn't bad,the only CG is the bear.
The best review of the film I've read including technical info on the rifles can be found here.

Thought the bear was the best performance out of the lot.
Glass seemed have a trade musket most of the time 'till the end when he re-equipped with a long rifle.
