Thanks guys,

Although.. As the mag on a pistol is not considered a firearrm you could just order a few spares.
Or... Just load one first the put the mag in?

Mark
You could but you'd then be at least breaking the conditions of your certificate, if not part of a Firearms Act. The same way you could load three 2.5" cartridges into a SGC 3.5" chambered semi/pump shotgun, yeah you can do it, but if you get caught you're in the smelly stuff.

The 2-shot "limit" may well have come from the Webley. .32acp Humane Killer which the old Min of Ag & Fish and the RSPCA used. This was a standard Webley pistol modified as follows. ....

Vented muzzle brake with sloped serrated face
Special cam to safety lever --- when the slide recoiled back it rotated the lever to horizontal, I.e. to "safe"
Magazine with hold open platform (as in the MP police model ), and a wood block inside the magazine spring to limit capacity to 1 round.

1 "up the spout " and 1 in the chamber so after the first shot the user had to take the safety OFF

ERGO - a 2 shot HK, so the "official mind" sees this as a prerequisite !

Hi Blackstuff,

Something stirred in the memory banks when you mentioned getting 3 cartridges in a Sec2 tube:

H.O Guidance 2013 Chapter 2.
2.15 When assessing the magazine capacity of a firearm, consideration should be given to the number of cartridges that the firearm was designed or proofed to take. For example, where a shotgun has a magazine which is capable of holding three cartridges but was designed to hold only two, the shotgun should be considered a section 2 firearm rather than a section 1 firearm.

I believe this translates that you use the longest cartidge the gun is proofed for when counting how many the mag will hold. (Then reload a bunch of 1.5 inch cartridges and see how many you can cram in clapclap ).
Cheers

I had conversation with someone recently who recounted the story of a new S1 FAC holder who popped in a variation for two S5 handguns because he was none the wiser. His application was granted and he gleefully skipped off to the club to update everyone on his good news. Shock horror dismay etc plus lots of sage advice about how it was obviously a monumental cock-up.

There is a bit more in the middle however the end part is all of a sudden the Firearms licensing team got hold of the story and made all sorts of vile threats about unlawful possession and the like and he no longer has these particular slots on his FAC

What fun :)
