Has anyone done this? Or is it a no no?

Saw one once, not pretty at all...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Choice of moderator would need to be thought of.

Yes it can be done and one of my Proof barrels is a fluted job chopped back to 310,0mm - down side is they look hideous and leave sharp edges for the unwary however a sound moderator screwed up tight to the flutes does go some way to improving the appearance.

As already said, it's do-able but not recommended. Either look for a new barrel, or a new rifle. ;)
