Re: Hello from Northern Ireland
They used to shoot plenty .50 down in Bandit country didn't they?
A chap told me that .50 is £9 every time you pull the trigger....sod that!

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: Hello from Northern Ireland
AZ stock .50BMG for around a couple of quid/round but it is very old milsurp so probably good for brass at best.
EDIT- I was wrong!
50 BMG 50 BALL FMJ, Boxer primed. Powder weight is 226.9 grains. Bullet weight is 700 grains. Dated 1945. 20 rounds per pack. £47.50

Yes unfortunatly Colnel gedaffey allegidly helped the IRA in smuggling a Barret L82 into the republic which at the hands of IRA sniper "one shot paddy" killed many British soldiers along the North/South border including an 18 year old soldier.
These shootings took place around crossmaglen, cullyhanna and whitecross.
Unfortunatly I do not live too far away from the border but hopefully things are goung to remain quiet and never return to the horrible past its renowned for.

Lets hope so, sadly it only takes a very small minority to make life very grim for the majority, this goes for many areas of our world.6.5shooter wrote:These shootings took place around crossmaglen, cullyhanna and whitecross.

Are you able to use the new Southern Irish range? If memory serves me correctly it can do 1200 yards and is not far from the border.

As of last yyear southern Irish shooters lost their pistol liscences because of gangs in Dublin armed with pistols and some allegidly were legally held so that went belly upp because of a silly minor jeapordising the sport for others.

Its roughly an hour and a bit from me. I think its around Ardee.
I have never been as I am not an f class shooter and shoot only on MOD ranges in comps like service rifle and mcqueens etc.
However I am currently looking into joining abother club that organises f class events andmaybe get a rifle built for the purpose.
I am going to enquire more about it first and see if the amount of range days we are allowed would be worth my while getting another rifle built.
Regards
Garry

In NI, you've got Mo Mowlam to thank for keeping your sporting pistols.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Ovenpaa,
I'm also Danish ... well by descent anyhow. I once went there and when they asked me my name, and I replied, so they asked me how to spell it, and after I spelled it, they exclaimed: "oh, you meant ... nehoghowu", or some other word I had never heard in my whole life. and evidently I'm common (in the statistical sense) ...
