I have just been given a box of Winchester .22LR 42 grain 42Max HP Subs, has anyone tried them or have any views on them?

Work fine in my Walther G22 which is fairly fussy.

Hi. I use the in my CZ452 with a SAK mod and they are very good out to 85 ish yards if you do your bit. Very Google knock down value. Most accurate I have found, better than Eley through my gun.

I have used Winchester subs for many years - the 40g ones. Now I do not. I have had too many problems with ejection on four different guns with them. Since I have stopped using them I do not get any problems. I will not be buying them again. The guns concerned are two bolt actions, a pump action and an AR15.

I normally use the 40gr in my s/a's but just bought a brick of the 42gr to try. Read about them first: generally well thought-of but a few who didn't like them. Occasional supersonic rounds reported.

Just bought 500 today to try out as I bought 500 CCI subsonic a few days back and after thinking it was my rifle (CMMG) that was wrong I got my finnfire which would usually shoot the CCI into 1/2" or so at 50 yards wouldn't do any better than 2 inches. The CMMG was closer to 2.5-3".
I only managed two groups tonight with the 42gr Winchester before dark from the CMMG the first put five into 3/4" and then a ten round group of just over 1". Looks like they'll be the fodder of choice for the CMMG for the time being. I'm done with CCI subs, definitely a QC issue with the current batch.

CCI cause really difficult bolt closure in my finnfire. Winchester are a lot easier.
With the semi, anything goes through it like clockwork.

Despite being out with a rifle a lot recently it has all been overland and I still have not managed to get down the range with the Winchester 42's however I have a 22-250 to test and zero at 100m later this week so it will be a perfect opportunity.
