Shot my first possible!
Last night despite nothing seeming to suit and feeling like I was shooting someone else's rifle I managed 100 on an NSRA 25yd prone target rifle card. Sling, diopter sights and my 100 quid unloved Anschutz 64. Chuffed :)
I still want a new rifle but it feels mean to my trusty Anschutz now... Outshooting the guys with their shiny new Feinwerkbaus and Walthers with my slab of lower-end seventies wood and steel was a nice feeling :)

Re: Shot my first possible!
clapclap Congratulations.
Shiney just means that, shiney. It doesn't mean points.
All these new target rifles with more knobs that NASA had on Apollo 9 are fine but I think you need to be an olympic level shooter to be able to take advantage of what they offer.
I was still putting in possibles with my BSA Martini MK2 up until a couple of years ago when the arthritis stopped me shooting prone.
I still have my LH Anschutz 54, keeping that for when I get crippled enough that benchrest seems attractive.
Accuracy is simple, good barrel good sights and good ammunition after that it is up to the shooter.

Well done mate. clapclap
You know what they say though...beware the man with one rifle. Perhaps its really your ideal match
Re: Shot my first possible!
Excellent shooting. The first of many I suspect. I've done it a fair few time on the 25 yard NSRA targets (Mk 2 Martini and Russian CM-2) but I'm particularly chuffed to have also done it with a pistol at 25 yards too. (Browning Match 150)
Re: Shot my first possible!
Well done. It's been too long since I shot a possible but came so close on Monday with my new KK500, shiny bits and all. I recon 7th shot just cut the line. As it's a postal comp card not allowed to put gauge in.
Bit like 1066, I'm particularly chuffed that I've done it at 100yrds, although only once.
Well done. Now you've done it once, more will follow.

Re: Shot my first possible!
Congrats!
I shot my first one this winter league too! Awaiting for the card back as it was on a county card and had to be sent off.
Still waiting on number 2, but my averages are creeping up.
Chuffed for you! :)

Feinwerbaus, Bleikers etc are all well and good, but if you can't shoot, you'll never make a 100, so it sounds to me like you and your 64 have all the ingredients for many more possibles!

Re: Shot my first possible!
Well done! Now get back and nail it again!! Must feel fantastic after all that practice, get yourself a nice frame for it!
Re: Shot my first possible!
Thanks all
I was very pleased with the card as I haven't been shooting prone anywhere near enough recently - I only took it up two years ago and unfortunately haven't been able to put in the amount of practice that I really should.
To give you an idea of how good a card it was, I'm going in for a 50m open competition in a couple of weeks and am in the 'up to 93.5 average' class due to a rubbish end to the winter league :)
