Re: CF Target
Our club has a Howa 1500 in .308 and what I think is a hogue overmould stock? Either way, it does the job up to the 600yards it has been out on. People aren't smashing the V every single time with it but that could quite easily be the shooter or the ammo.
I'm hoping to have it shot out to 1000yards when we head to Bisley in a couple of weeks. Again, I'm really not expecting it to be smashing Vs every shot, but then it's a club loaner budget-priced rifle with budget factory ammo. I don't think anyone would expect F class accuracy from it.

Re: CF Target
A late model Swing with a decent barrel is very worthy of consideration.Pete wrote:+ 1 for Savage..........the mod 12 in one of it's iterations, Palma if you can afford it, otherwise an F/TR.
Unlike the Tikka, Remmie, and Howa, it was designed as a pure target rifle from the word go.
Alternatively, a used Swing Mk4.

Careful now/that sort of thing
Re: CF Target
Yet another question, can anyone recommend a decent scope for the 200 - 400 meter range?
Thanks
Matt

List is endless on scopes. Comes down to what you want to spend.

Re: CF Target
My .308 is probably my most accurate rifle and also the cheapest, it cost me £425 for EB 20x40 scope, 20 moa rail, mount and licensed atlas copy bipod sat on a fultons m98 based target rifle. It shoots RWS factory ammo under an inch at 100 and if I do my bit home loads into half that. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a really accurate rifle, I enjoy shooting it all the more as it cost me so little!
Not that I'm saying you shouldn't spe d money if you've got it to spend
