Should I buy a GSG 1911

I'm seriously considering one too, I quite liked my original TSC model but re build quality was poor and the materials sub-par. I'm hearing much better things about these new ones.

Has anyone got any experience with these barrel centering cones and ditching the takedown barrel screw?

I'd just like to add that I find the long barrel and coat hanger are irrelevant when you're shooting these pistols, they just don't make a difference to the shooting of them if you're concentrating on your shooting.

I shot a lot of full bore handguns in my youth and it's never the same but I don't think the LBP format distracts from the fun or discipline of pistol shooting at all!

An essential upgrade imo, along with the +4 mag followers.

Im not too worried about the +4 magazine capacity as most of the things I want to shoot have a limit to 6 rounds per mag. I.e T&P and Multi-Target.

However 14 rounds does seem appealing when plinking or just having a bit of fun.

But I have hear these modified followers can cause some feeding issues. aaarggh

My gun/mags works fine with the +4 followers but a friend has had to take them out of his mags as they were causing double feeds quite regularly You can still up your mag capacity with +1 to +3 base plates though Or if the followers work you can use both hand have 17rd mags

I've also put the CWA bushing/guide rod in my 1911 and it does improve accuracy. I've no idea how as removing the screw puts a lot of 'slop' in the slide but somehow its almost doubled the accuracy of the gun (Going from around 3-4" @ 20m to more like 1.5-2" - shooting from a supported rest) It also has the benefit of being able to strip the gun without any tools.

That maybe well be the case if you only shoot static. However if you shoot dynamic, the long barrel may not be such an issue but of course the coat-hanger does make a huge difference. With that thing sticking out & getting in the way, it is impossible to apply a correct arms extention post holster draw, which in turn will impair your ability to place a slide aimed instictive short distance shot . Same goes for all the manipulations, such as speed reload, malfunction clearings etc which are optimised by keeping your work space quite close to your upper torso.

However, UK beggars can't be choosy so I guess LBP are better than nothing and they do the trick nicely to practice accurate hand held shooting .

The long barrel also makes it a lot harder to muzzle sweep yourself when running up range!

i find the coat hanger a right pain in the arse, but then my hands are longer than the grip so the coat hanger gets in the way
