GSG 1911 +? followers

Part of 'the plan' is to increase the capacity of the 1911 mags and I know you can buy +4 followers. But I was disassembling/cleaning today and I was thinking that you could possibly increase the capacity by trimming the bit of the standard follower that protrudes into the spring. Am I right? Would it cause feeding problems?

Yes and possibly yes. The +4 followers are just chopped down versions of the originals. A friend of mine has had to stop using the +4 followers as they were causing jams (double feeds), fortunately for me mine work well. I would imagine you'll need to do some testing to get reliable function. Personally considering the cost of the followers I'd not use my time trying to do it.
