Re: Should I buy a GSG 1911
I've just bought a GSG in mint s/h condition for a cracking price. Just contemplating what mods to do with the money I've saved . The Performance Enhancement System for £50 ish from AW seems a bargain plus the stainless rod thingy. Then hopefully a red dot on the slide, probably a Shield or are there any chinky-cheapo's worth buying I wonder.
My other purchase on this pistol theme is a Westlake Alfa .357. Now if you really want to talk about shooting pistols in 'the old way' forget your filthy black powder/pyrodex malarky. With two extra cylinders I can get off 18 rounds of slick double action accuracy in under half a minute and no hours of cleaning black grunge to look forward to. Joy.

The PES and guide rod are very beneficial, can recommend their addition. As to sights, avoid EvilBay chinky copies like the plague. You get what you pay for. Buy a Shield and you'll only have to buy once..! They're used by all the top UK Practical Pistol shooters for a reason.Nelly2014 wrote:I've just bought a GSG in mint s/h condition for a cracking price. By co-incidence, I've today recieved and fitted a AW Armoury PES and Guide rod to my TSC Pro 1911... we'll see if it makes a difference.

My kit resulted in a point of impact too high at 10 yards for the tallest foresight. Has anyone got a source for the taller sights that CW recommend?

Sounds like you'd do better with an adjustable rearsight... one of the first things i did with mine was added a novak adjustable rear sight.safetyfirst wrote:My kit resulted in a point of impact too high at 10 yards for the tallest foresight. Didn't improve accuracy, but at least the spead pattern was central
