That is a shame ... After forking 450 Quids on a brand new pistol that can't hit what I aim, I was actually thinking of painting the fake moderator pink & using it as a sex toy O:-)

I kinda want to know now, are you planning on using it as some sort of speculum to drip something in, or let something drip out?

Well if you're not going to spring for a sight set, what about just a front sight blank that you can file down to any shape and height you need......?

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

froggy wrote:Thanks but I really don't like Red Dots on hand-guns. Have you managed to source those higher sights ? BTW , after sending many un-answered e-mails to the UK distributor, I contacted them directly on the phone over 10 days ago. Nice guy but he still has not come back to me .... 8-)

The bugger defo shoots about 13 cm too high ...

Next time I'll try to shoot it without that silly fake moderator to see if it change anything ?
Hi Rico,
It's true what you say that red dots don't seem 'right' on a pistol. However when you are shooting in a comp you feel at a disadvantage if you've not got one. I struggled with my open sights for a while till I gave in and bought a Shield. Now I'm always on the target, just need to lose some fat so I can speed up.
Many people shoot without the 'nanny' mod but I hate that exposed thread on the end of the barrel (it would be nice to have a cap or buckmark style ally thingy) so I put some carbon wrap on the fake mod so it looks like I've bought something expensive lol.
Planning any trips to Strelnice Vrazkov soon btw?

Ahoj !

I am not a serious shooter so I find iron sights on pistols more challenging & much more fun and it gives me, of course, a good excuse for my crap shooting.
Some people would probably prove me wrong but in case of "defensive" shooting at very close range, slide aiming is probably as fast or very close as using a red dot (?).
Also if I shoot one pistol with red dot, I'd kinda have to put it on all my pistols, something I defo would not be able to afford. So, since I am lucky enough to have access to many different hand-guns I find it makes more sense to always use & build "muscle reflex" with good'old iron sights.

BTW, Working on the next trip as we speak ... I'll keep you posted O:-)

froggy wrote:Does anybody knows the increments of the various front sights provided with the LBP GSG 1911 @25 yards ?

Ie : if the pistol shots about 12cm (abt 4.7 inches for Scottish dinosaurs O:-) ) too high with the front sight marked with 3 dots, I believe the highest, which one should I fit to shoot PoA / PoI ?

I could not find a post already dealing with that prob, if there is one, appologises.

Thanks
The highest one (3 dots) on mine measures to .235" - mine shoots high but not as bad as yours (I'm about 3" high IIRC) . I calculated I need a .275" foresight (both front and rear are Novak style).

You sure your barrel screw hasn't come loose on the right hand side of the frame?

My POI/POA was bang on with that .235 foresight - it's only changed since I fitted a performance kit to it (bushing, guide rod and spring), which is what leads me to think your barrel may not be fully secure if the screw has backed out a little.
