Solid/non-expanding subsonic .22lr
Does it exist and more importantly, where can you get it from in this country?

The one that springs to mind is this-
http://www.cci-ammunition.com/products/ ... loadNo=960
I don't know where you would get this ammo, as I haven't seen it locally.

A bit of an internet search and it appears to show this ammunition is imported in this country for the £70 - £80 a thousand price bracket, so about average really.

Re: Solid/non-expanding subsonic .22lr
This is my favourite sub-sonic .22 RF:
Aquila Sniper Subsonic Ammunition is loaded with the heaviest bullet available for .22 Long Rifle. The 60 Grain bullet travels at subsonic speeds for quiet shooting yet delivers enough power for small game. This ammunition is new-production and non-corrosive and is recommended for use in bolt action rifles.
Technical Information •Caliber: 22 Long Rifle
•Bullet Weight: 60 Grains
•Bullet Style: Lead Round Nose
Ballistics Information:
•Muzzle Velocity: 950 fps
•Velocity Rating: Subsonic
•Muzzle Energy: 120 ft. lbs.

Re: Solid/non-expanding subsonic .22lr
Most 'normal' .22LR ammo is sub-sonic. . . so most of the Eley range (Tenex, Match, Club) are advertised at 1085 fps for example. Target shooters don't want their bullets breaking the sound barrier as it does nasty things to bullet stability as the bullet drops down to sub-sonic speeds downrange.

Re: Solid/non-expanding subsonic .22lr
As above, standard velocity for target ammo is firmly subsonic - Eley are 1085fps with a 40 grain solid across the range. Sport works well and should be no more than £75/1000, but plenty of other stuff is available.
Re: Solid/non-expanding subsonic .22lr
lovely stuff if you can get it plus I've found you need a faster than normal twistDaveB wrote:This is my favourite sub-sonic .22 RF:

Thanks for the replies!
Hadn't really thought about 'normal' solid ammo as I always use 'HV' stuff in the 1300-1400fps type range. Should be relatively easy to find some <1100FPS stuff (he says, instantly cursing himself )
