Awesome thank you very much. Ithought that would be why. I spend more time reading than posting
Re: Long Range Rimfire
Nice report on this shoot Dougan, it's made me even sadder that I missed out on it. I'm looking at getting a CZ 455 Thumbhole for use at my other club, it comes in either a 16 in or 20 in barrel length, as it would be used with a scope is there any advantage in using the longer barrel if I were to use it at this discipline?
Re: Long Range Rimfire
Hiya Mate,
Don't worry they'll be a few more meetings next year...I hope you and Howie will be able to come as I think you'll enjoy it.
We have discussed the issue of .22 barrel length before ( see http://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=16664) - I think it does matter, but is also to do with thickness and weight as well.
Is there any reason why you wouldn't want to use you .22 target rifle...?...If you want to use a scope, it's not a problem; you don't have to remove the front sight to use a scope...I have to take the sights off my Anschutz (scope or apertures) to get it in the cabinet, and so far have not had a problem with the zeros...
Btw: What the intended use (target/rough shooting) for the CZ?

Re: Long Range Rimfire
Thanks for the topic link mate, that will help. I had thought of using the Annie but like the idea of something a bit lighter making transporting it on the bike much easier. Our mutual friend Tony is taking part in a indoor 25m benchrest comp and I fancy using the 455 on that as well.
Re: Long Range Rimfire
The 455 is a nice rifle, and good for its intended design; which is small game and vermin shooting...which is why it's light...
...unfortunately for competitions like prone and benchrest, often it's the heavier the better for accuracy.
But I'm thinking 'competitively'...if you like it, then enjoy getting the most from it...and good luck to you and Tony in the benchrest

Re: Long Range Rimfire
Bumping an old thread I know but we shot the Turbutt again on Sunday in what can be best described as challenging weather conditions! Some good scores though with one guy managing 32 i think it was at 500 yards.
I had two bad shots at 500 which saw me finish second overall on aggregate scores.
The LRRFC have their next shoot at Bisley on the 8th of October.

That sounds like good fun and I would love to have a go. How do I sign up for this?
