ACTUALLY i had a crisis of faith on Sunday while on RCO duty - i had a 'twinge' over an Enfield SMLE! Its the first tree-guts gun to appeal to me in a very long time! Maybe i'm getting soft in my old age, or maybe it was the sun . . . .
Maturity.
Come on Bambi get some
Imperial Good Metric Bad
Analogue Good Digital Bad
Reminds me of when I was doing my RCO training, it was James (Rifleman798) on the firing point with a No5 Mk1 and I asked him to unload and show clear, and my next words were "Remove the bolt please?"

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
I've got a Nagant, but not the carbine-its the M91 with hexagonal receiver made in 1934.
Yes its an ugly rifle and positivley agricultural to operate, but its the one gun which puts an enormous grin on my face when i shoot it.Now whether this is enjoyment or deteriorating facial muscles due to the excessive recoil i'll leave that upto you to work out.Ammunition is cheap as chips and if you really want a laugh try shooting some heavy ball rounds or even better let an unsuspecting probationer have a go with the stuff.
Not an accurate rifle when compared to others of its time like the K98,No4's etc,but certainly fun to shoot and deserves a place in everyones cabinet.
I have a M91 with a Darrel mount on it and a long eye relief pistol scope I re load for it the re coil is about the same as a enfield and it is accurate I could be persuaded to post some pics.
In fact I might be persuaded to sell it.
I have had many, and still have 2. If I had more slots i would have many more. I would love to have one from each former "block" i.e polish, czech etc.
They are massed produced, but if you scout around you can find the rarer ones as I did. The Finnish mosin nagants can shoot as good as a Mauser or Enfield.
I had a Finnish M91 imported from the states a while back (52 1/2 inches long) which the fins made improvements such as 2 stage trigger, improved magazines which dont jam as much etc, and mine shot very well.
I had to let it go due to it being so long for which it had to be the 1st rifle to go into my safe, which meant I had to take out all my others to get it out, a pain + I wanted a slot for my 308.
As Over' said , they are good ( esp M38's & M44's) for ETR's with surplus ammo - cheap and fun to shoot, and literally a THUNDER and flame when you fire it !
