What sort of rifles/scope combinations and ammunition are people using?

OvenPaa - a mix really.

BSA Martini Internationals are popular as they're low cost with great barrels and triggers, and most clubs have a few propping up their armoury. Scope mounting is a challenge but a couple of ways round it. I have an Anschutz 18-series that I've built a bench stock for from a donor supermatch. At the last Yorkshire open there were some nice full custom ally stocks in use. Some people just use their prone rifle and pop a block and scope on. A few people go down the CZ route as it can be more accessible, but I effectively had a free Anschutz that I wasn't going to pass up!

For scopes there's everything from March 80x efforts, through Big Nikkos and down to generic 24x efforts. I use a Falcon fixed 35 power, the Sightron equivalent is also rated.

Front rests are usually adapted (no bags or ears) from off the shelf, or the old jack-on-a-block approach. I made mine up from square section steel filled with lead and an ally plate on top to be nice and low.

Ammo is everything from Tenex, R50, Eley match, Eley club, SK, Lapua...whatever suits the rifle.

Sporting rifle with some mods and with a 12x max scope - in my own case a Sako Finnfire Range with a special stock and trigger fitted with a Weaver 12x scope
R50 ammo very popular but Lapua Centre X is also in use as is Tenex

To each their own and all that, but to me this is more of a machine rest competition. Where's the shooter skill? Breathing, not a problem, shoulder placement, body position, null and void.

Put a round in the chamber, line the scope up and pull the trigger.

I wouldn't be surprised if people had remote triggers to remove themselves a little further...

The NSRA competition may not be the same as the international standards, but I'm glad in some ways. The use of a rear and front rest for me takes out half of what we'd call shooting techniques. In my humble and probably un-welcomed opinion...

That said, nice looking setup :)

A front rest is allowed under NSRA rules (in fact is mandated if not using a sling). You'd be surprised how many people think a bipod is okay (NSRA 8.16.5.1)

Obviously the rest pictured is not compliant as it has compound adjustment and 'ears'.

The fun part comes from shooting my 44mag Henry in the next booth to Roger and talking to him while he's shooting a match card, well I think it's fun

And on a good day having my son on his other side blatting away as fast as he can with the S&W M&P15-22 like 22 ammo was free to use :)
