Re: Head space gauges
Am I being thick here but what is wrong with just keeping the trigger pulled so the cock on close action doesn't cock on close as the bent never touches the sear?

Re: Head space gauges
I'm guessing the firing pin sticking out the bolt with spring tension

I turned a set up for my various 303s , I drilled a hole in the middle rear to miss the firing pin. Dimensions are available on the interweb thingy and as it's a rimmed round dead easy to make. If I remember they are based on a rim thickness of 72 thou.

I have some home made gauges for 54R and .303 and they work well for confirming things although they are not CIP approved :)
As the 54R and .303 can be in their simplest terms not much more than a washer it is a relatively cheap job to get a couple of sets made from hardened steel surface ground to thickness.
