I am looking at a project - chopping the pistol grip part from a scrap stock and blending it into my straight stock. If it has a tyrolean / roll over cheekpiece, I might even try chopping that off and recycling it too !
Hardwood would be preferable and would be nice if it has a cap on the end of the pistol grip part. Either screw on plastic or rosewood as in the pics below. I am only using the bits circled so really after a SCRAP stock that I can butcher and not lose too much money if it all goes wrong........
Airgun or rimfire / fullbore - it does not really matter.
