Mini mcQueens rifle of choice?

A question to the guys who have shot mini McQueens at Bisley et al please, what rifle, scope and rest do you use please?

Being a fan of classic rifles and therefore loving a bit of wood and blue I have bought a Mauser 201 to replace my old .22, A 60's Walther KKJ that although svelte and beautiful was just too light for any sort of precision shooting.

In a fit of infatuation-induced slight overkill it now wears the Zeiss victory 6-24x56 off my 243 which is sharp down to 50m.

I am hoping this combo will do the business and based on the groups I'm getting I think it might be. :)

A question on rests however, what do people use?

Nice choice, classy old rifles and usually very accurate to boot.

I had one years ago - cut to 12" and scoped - was a great rabbiting rifle. Tatty as hell but worked !

I am looking at 16" this time, with no moderator - a dedicated target rifle ( my BAR22 in its current 25" overall length is the perfect .22 for rabbits from the truck )

I prefer bags to a bipod, mainly on account of not having used a bipod very much in the field.

I have a couple Harris bipods, bags or 'pods in your opinion?

Phoenix Bipod. No other way to go.

But then, I am biased..............

I shall be drilling the front of the wood stock, embedding a spigot with epoxy and using a 6.5-8" type B.

I was talking to someone yesterday who is re-barreling an International to 17HMR for vermin complete with NV - Sounds like a plan if it means the rifle gets a new lease of life. I have a couple myself in all original condition and thoroughly enjoy shooting them in both left and right hand format.

Oh, I see!

Looks an excellent design by thew way, suspending the mass from an attachment point above the centre of gravity should make for more stability especially with a big scope.

In this case however there is no way in hell I'm touching the stock!

They work very well, I went for the WMR over the HMR on the basis of punch for foxes and the fact that they are making decent ammo for the WMR again.

I've heard that HMR stuff is not as good as it was when it first came out?

My club doesn't allow either on the range, FWIW.
