Scope base for Walther / HK MP5??

#1 Post by Daryll »

Just splashed out on a new plinking toy, the Walther version of the HK MP5.

I'd planned on keeping it clean, with just iron sights, but now feeling the need to put a red-dot or low power scope on it.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recomendations for a scope base..??

I see HK sell then for £100 ish, but i don't want to spend that sort of money!

Plenty of airsoft versions on the 'bay, and they'd probably stand up to the massive recoil of .22lr, but has anyone tried any of them?

TIA

Daryll.

Mine came second hand with one fitted - I'm convinced it's a generic cheapy but is pretty solid. I've had a couple of different red dots and it's held zero over time so there can't be much play in it.

I *think* it's very similar to this:

ok, thanks Kungfu..

It sounds like these generic ones will do the job, so ordered one.

Ah the old circle of life with an MP5...."Going to keep it clean, going to keept it clean...but then a red-dot would make shooting easier and faster....and maybe a picatinny handguard....I think I might need some magnification....and a laser......and a 45 degree red-dot for close up....b*llocks, this thing looks crazy, I'm going to keep it clean......" lol lol

I'm currently back to the iron-sight/clean look :good:

Those airsoft rails work just fine for them but beware how much you torque the bolts down as they are easily strippable. I think I got my mount from Ant Supplies.

http://www.ant-supplies.uk/

I just purchased several sets of mounts from them for a .22 rifle project I was not sure of the height etc needed so I ordered several different sets the whole thing cost me about £40.
I have removed the barrel thanks ovenpaa and I'm in the process of drilling and tapping the action. The whole job minus the price of the scope is probably going to be about £20.

By the way some one was asking about bi pods they sell cheap bi pods obviously they are a copy of the more expensive ones but they work.

OK, got the base fitted, seems ok for a £9.99 one from Amazon, and fitted a £35 Eotech 512, also from Amazon... (the Chinese gentleman assured me it was genuine.. :D)

Now I'm looking for spare 25rd mags....

RifleMags.co.uk advertised them for around £38, but out of stock. I asked to be notified when back in stock, and got an email yesterday... they're now damn near £50...!!

As usual, we're in rip-off Uk... in the US they sell for about $30

Anyone know of a supplier with reasonable prices..?

No idea I'm afraid, they seem to have dried up recently. Poor show by riflemags hiking the price up because of it :bad:

FYI you can get them for less than $20 and I've seen them as low as $12 in the US
