Re: Pietta New Model Army Revolver - absurd trajectory issue
Switching to .457 seems to have done the trick.
Current load is:
25 grains X volume of Hodgdon Triple 7 FFFG
.457 ball
1 X home made lubed felt wad.
I'm not going to file the foresight (I may want to shoot over different ranges / change powders in future).
I'm now sighting the rear V notch with the very bottom of the blade (before it widens to the post) now the trajectory has straightened out over 25 yards.

I'm not at all unhappy with this morning's results. Now that I'm pretty much on target it's all down to tightening up my performance.
Is it too late to claim my £20?

It depends, do I get a tenner for suggesting the .457 in the first place?!Dark Skies wrote:Switching to .457 seems to have done the trick.

Rumour has it that tackb's pockets are deep and bountiful - maybe he'll give you £20 as well. :)WelshShooter wrote:

Nah. That'd be wrong - especially as I'm in a good mood now my pistol is shooting straight. :)tackb wrote: I'm nothing if not a man of my word !

Just another thought - Are you resting the grip on a solid bench?
