Suggestions mini rifle AR

Hi, I am looking to acquire my first .22 AR early next year for mini rifle.

I am starting to do as much research as I can before getting my FAC as I want to hit the ground running.
I don't really have a budget but would like something with good reliability and as durable as possible.
So far I have looked at SGC and a stock 15-22.

Is there anything new out or coming out for next year?

Does anyone have any experience of the SGC .22?

Optic wise I am reading good things about the Vudu. However its a 1-6 - does this cause any issue rules wise? I see most people run a 1-4 power.

The King of the AR-alikes for mini-rifle is the S&W 15-22, its that simple. Amazingly reliable, light and can be modified in all of the meaningful ways with fullbore parts.

You can spend double, triple, quadruple on a Spikes, SGC, CMMG, Lantac etc and be closer to the real thing (and also hump around unnecessary weight with less reliability <you know its true >), but if you're using it as a competition gun, why would you?

1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the UKPSA's mini-rifle league are all currently occupied by 15-22 users. Nuff said.

Marks right. Even though some of the "premium" made .22 ARs are exquisite firearms, the M&P is not bested by them!

And even though much is made of the polymer construction, there's not many that complain about the longevity of a Glock! And as for weight, according to S&Ws site, the 15-22 is only two pounds lighter than their equivilient .223 rifle.

And there is definitely not a better .22 AR magazine out there than the S&W!!

I am also going down the .223 route so any money saved on the .22 will be put to good use.

A .223 upper can be added to a .22 CMMG/Spike’s/etc but not to a Smith and Wesson, that’s the only thing I’d say.

The SGC rifles are the heavy end of the lot, I’d say a CMMG or spikes are your best metal AR variants.

The Smith is a great rifle for mini rifle.

So there are a couple of options in the price range you are thinking off the S&W or the NWCP ones (if they are out there yet). I have seen the S&W ones and they work well, the only thing I know about the NWCP ones is the information above. Only benefit I can see of the S&W over the NWCP is that the S&W is tried and tested but for the NWCP one it can take a .223 upper it says.

Metal (Spikes / Bremmer / CMMG / Lantac / Valkeryie) nice, premium, heavy can take other uppers
Polymer (S&W / NWCP), light, cop is good, and the NWCP takes Milspec parts, I don't think S&W allows buffer tube changes etc for stocks.

I have two of the above (not saying which), and I am happy with it, and I don't think I have mentioned any supplier here that doesn't get a thumbs up from someone on here (well nearly everyone).

If the mini-rifle comps you're shooting are going by the IPSC rulebook (most do or slight variations) then there is no difference between a red-dot or a scope (of any magnification). If you put anything with a sight on your gun with a lens or electrical circuit then the gun is in Open division, there is no further sub-sects/restrictions depending on the sight

Nope and with ITAR you can forget getting one.
