The Walther/Umarex rifles are out of manufacture now. The mags have become very hard to find too, so beware anybody selling one of these cheaply.

Also with all this mention of Chippa, I know what I'm having for tea...

That NWCP rifle looks interesting, will be looking for a new semi auto .22 early next year and that ticks most of the boxes.

So there are a couple of options in the price range you are thinking off the S&W or the NWCP ones (if they are out there yet). I have seen the S&W ones and they work well, the only thing I know about the NWCP ones is the information above. Only benefit I can see of the S&W over the NWCP is that the S&W is tried and tested but for the NWCP one it can take a .223 upper it says.

Metal (Spikes / Bremmer / CMMG / Lantac / Valkeryie) nice, premium, heavy can take other uppers
Polymer (S&W / NWCP), light, cop is good, and the NWCP takes Milspec parts, I don't think S&W allows buffer tube changes etc for stocks.

I have two of the above (not saying which), and I am happy with it, and I don't think I have mentioned any supplier here that doesn't get a thumbs up from someone on here (well nearly everyone).
