You would find a search more useful as this has been covered here many times before.

Sorry Dromia, I did a search but just multiple posts on people asking if it's better to use black powder. Couldn't see a Poll on it.

I used 777 in a musket and revolver until I got a flintlock which whilst it worked was inconsistent and had a horrendous but funny delay on firing.

So, I got my explosives licence and black powder and now use that in everything.

I think you will find most people will start out with substitutes and either stick with them if they work in their firearms, or eventually go for the licence and move on to gunpowder.

Don't see a need for a poll, it doesn't explain the reasoning for a choice.

Helps with the post count though.

Forum polls are a waste of time if you are really interested in finding out about a topic.

The fact that polls are so rarely used says a lot.

Why is 777 better than pyrodex? New to the black powder side of things.

Personally, because that is what the shop had..

Still got half a tub as Dromia and a flintlock convinced me to move to the real deal. If I had stuck with percussion firearms I may not have.

Can't comment on pyrodex as I have never used it.
