Magazine conversion /stock /chassis for Savage model 10FS

#1 Post by safetyfirst »

I’ve got a lovely Savage rifle in .308, heavy barrel, short action, top magazine release, top fed.

I’d like to make it into a better rifle, top feeding is horrible with the rail it came with covering the action and the stock is nasty.

MDT do a chassis for it that would suit I think but I’m happy with a wooden or even hogue style stock if it has the bottom metal to allow it to take magazines.

Anyone got anything? New or second hand offers taken, I can’t seem to find the model 10 short action MDT chassis on anyone’s website for example....

Cash not exactly waiting, it’ll be mid April till I can afford something but I can put a deposit down now!

What ya got on the shelf?

:)

I’ve got blackrifle.co.uk sourcing something for me now.

Thanks all who PM’d with suggestions.

You can order from MDT directly, or from Vertebrae based in Norway. There will be import charges on top of the final cost if you go this way.

I have the Tac21 chassis on my Remmy 6.5x47 Lapua. It's a heavy, but solid chassis. I would reccomend looking at the ESS chassis as it's a little smaller, and in my opinion, a better chassis suitable for the 308. I think the Tac21 is overkill for anything less than 338 lapua.

The downside is that these systems are barebones, so you will need the rear butt section (any AR-15 compatible stock will work) and pistol grip (again, AR-15 compatible).

Pic related, my rifle in Tac21.

Will do. This is the current state. Cheek rest is an attempt to correct the horrid stock and the extra height the scope
Rail seems to add. This is a little group at 50 with cheap steel ammo, flyers not doubt me not the rifle!

Here it is before I upgraded the stock to the LSS one, amazing accuracy from this cheap little rifle, easily sub Moa on the paper range and hit the 3” head on a steel Muntjack 10/10 at 340 yards. Scope is a cheap vortex, the whole setup is about £1,000.

We live in accurate times!
