Re: Another ZOmbie Gun
I'd have had my arse kicked if i ever handled a pistol like that.
Not familiar with the calibre. My own choice would be 40SW, which i became familiar with a while ago. Never was a fan of the 9mm or the 45colt.
The pistol would really have to be something to make me want it over a P229.

Seems lack of recoil and similarity to the 5.56 is the attraction, much higher velocity than a "normal" round.
Love the HK USP full frame in .45acp, fits my wee hands just nicely. I thought Sigs were temeramental creatures according to some..even down to the lube oil that's used.

I have never had a problem with a SIG however I doubt they would respond well to be used to hammer nails in, whereas the CZ75 would probably cope with such abuse admirably.
Re: Another ZOmbie Gun
Thankfully i have large hands. Most 1911's, including clones are awful.. I consider them like rem 700 rifles; the guy buys the gun, changes the trigger, grips, sights, messes with the guts and then claims its original. Although the 45 makes a large hole, limited ammo can be an issue. Unless you're content with those stupid mag extenders. I hate a cumbersome harness rig which rubs and digs in when climbing in and out of vehicles so never appreciated the big slab 45s.Chuck wrote: Love the HK USP full frame in .45acp, fits my wee hands just nicely. I'm surprised by your comment about Sigs. Being a British company, we were originally issued Brownings but could buy our own. I was originally intending to buy a guy's CZ75 as his contract was ending but a mate recommended the sig P228. I wanted the 40sw so ordered the P229. That pistol proved to be the best i've ever owned an never failed - i'm not a 'gun polisher' nor anal with my cleaning routines. I usually ran some Clean Wipe through it, wiped it down with an oily rag and lubed. I ended up selling it for nearly what i paid, too.

Hi scotsgun,
Spoke with a lot of lads in the States on courses, Sigs seemeed tempramental and prior to buying the Walther p99 I did some rading up on Sigs. Seemed there was (is?) a problem if the handgrips are too tight too, seems it could bind something that should move) Not sure as I like to shoot them not snog them. Then again they all had Glocks or 1911's, not my kinda gun at all. if I were a military man in the desert then I would not have the Beretta 92, it fills up easily when you are groping about in the sand.
I was cert'd on the Glock 17 and Beretta 92, lost count of what I have actually shot..can't be much left. Not a fan of KARR or any wee pocket guns, We always make guys shoot them to show how hard they are to operate...after they have had a moan we ask WHy then do you buy these for your wimmin?? point made.
I've shot the FN's, SW's, Rugers, Colts, Jericho etc etc in various calibres, right up to Desert Eagle in .44Auto Mag...Not a concealed carry gun for sure. When I was doing my instructor course in the States I spent a LOT of time at a local range, I shot EVERY gun they had, from a wee old .22 Ruger semi auto Pistol to M16's...It was my Mate there who allowed me a wee shot of his HK 45USP (I took hundreds LOL) and that was the opening of a whole new world. Just the right size weight combo for me and easy to fire D/a.
Although I have wee hands I need to be able to shoot any pistol well from the moment I lift it..perhaps because I am not set into any one pistol I can usually do it. I found on the range a lot of people moaning about their new pistol shooting low..after they have been using their old one for years..it was usually just trigger feel that is the issue..
Not a CZ75 fan, just doesn't feel right to me somehow. To be honest neither did the Sig, I prefer the "controls" layout of the HK or the Beretta and Walther, right where they should be, I think the Sig frame is too cluttered with wee things that might drop the mag rather than release the slide when I am in a hurry. Hopefully be back over soon so I'll give the Sig another go.

Just goes to prove how pistols is really a personal thing, i suppose. I can't fault the reliability of the glock, but i'd never buy one. It's like the Vauxhall Astra of the pistol world.
The Walther P99 - a smart looking pistol but not particularly reliable. Guy had one and it was a real pain in the arse practicing with him due to the amount of stoppages. He ended up swapping it back for a Springfield P9 and some wedge.

So, If HMG said that you could have a pistol but it must be a Glock, you'd say no?

Must have been an iffy mag, our P99 has worked like clockwork from day one...To be honest the only pistols I have seen that were "unreliable" were Taurus and 1911's of any derivative...
Glocks are THE pistol of choice for the novice especially for self defence, simple to operate and reliable. I see some of the poor we police lassies here carrying hand cannons way too heavy for them. No guidancew from their macho male colleagues who favour things like CZ75's. Every police lass has shot our P99, pity none can afford to buy it....such is the tax and duty on imported firearms here.
Best bet is maybe the Sarsilmaz ST10, looks like an HK USP to me.

You can have a Glock. The original Glock has historical significance as the first mass-manufactured polymer resin handgun.....and yes, i would turn one down. It's not the gun for me; i hate the feel in the hand and the look. There are a few revolvers that i'd prefer.
