It's always been my habit to be polite to armed people.

Yeah agree with that, a Walt is an insult, a Fudd is more light hearted (how can you not smile when you think about 'hunting wabbit' :)) derogatory but not necessarily insulting.

On a lot of US forums the Fudd is actually considered to be worse than the Anti-gun lobby, and is used as an insult!.

Fudds explained by IraqVeteran8888, back in 2014. This channel seems to be partly responsible for popularising the term. So, although probably an older term its use seems to be more widespread recently.

The guys in the videos seem to have a very different view of the US NRA than the U.K. press. They seem to the think the NRA is full of old straight-laced hunter types (quite Fudd-ish) and as an organisation it is not very pro Black Rifles. You’d think from the British press that every one of them is a latter day minuteman that undergoes weekly combat training and owns an arsenal of AR-15s.

I thought it was just a derogatory name for being a bit wannabe and having unnecessary military gear at the range, like ‘mall ninja’ or ‘tacticool’ but some of these people take the ‘pretendy’ stuff to a whole different level.

Pretty well depends on whether he was ever a badger, finished training as a badger, or got washed out of badger selection, worked in the G1098 stores while retaining his Badger beret then when leaving, kept the black and white stripes.....and when asked never actually denies being a Badger clapclap
