Fabulously complicated looking Russian rear sight for one of Oleg’s AK rifles, probably good for non subsonic too, I’m sure our Russophile Comerade will chip in.

The PBS rear sight can be used with both standard and subsonic ammo and also allows windage adjustment.You set it for standard velocity ammunition by pulling the dialled drums either side outwards so the slide sits on the ramp as normal and to set it for subsonic you push the two drums inwards so they sit on the ramp and adjust accordingly depending on the difference in elevation, making a note of the number on the drums so they can be set again in the correct position.

Some have numbers on the underside, these are so the sight leaf can be flipped up and adjusted, then flipped back down without having to raise your head up when using the sight on a RPK.

Incidentally the Cyrillic letter that looks like a "n" on the leaf is the "Battle" setting, this position allows you to make centre mass hits from 0m to around 300m without having to constantly keep adjusting the sight for elevation.
