(sorry to hijack the thread). I am in the process of exchanging my Steyr Aug straight pull for a Remington 700 (.223) in an MDT LSS stock and the RFD cost was £25, although another RDF quoted £35.

Re: Ruger 10/22 for sale
North west rfd prices must be cheaper than Northampton prices...the postage alone would be £25 plus the rfd charge of say £35....for sender...then the recipient rfd charge of say £25.....makes a £160 rifle transfer an expensive business.

Re: Ruger 10/22 for sale
The postage is not included in the rfd fee in this area..most rfd only use one shipper..my ,most recent purchase of a new Marlin, shipped from up north, rfd to rfd, cost me £60 in fees and shipping..it would have cost me about the same in fuel to go and collect the rifle.....it arrived in a Parcelforce box, the box had been crushed at one point, luckily avoiding the rifle.

About the only firearms courier (Also the cheapest) is ParcelForce who these days charge £25.00ish excluding insurance, account maintenance and Highlands/Islands. Any charges above that are at the discretion of the RFD. Personally, we do not look to make money on transfers however some RFD's have a more mercenary view and how they make their money is entirely down to them.
