Uberti 1866 Winchester .22LR

#1 Post by GlockworkOrange »

I've decided to sell another of my beautiful guns that I just don't ever use. This is an Uberti Winchester 1866 'Yellowboy' replica in .22LR, fittingly made in 1966, so somewhat of a centenary gun I suppose. In a time where so many rimfires have pot-metal receivers and are often scaled-down and cheapened versions of centerfire guns, a classic like this is really refreshing. It is a full-size, full weight (7lbs13oz) replica with a lovely brass receiver, a blued 19" carbine barrel and a 15 shot tube magazine.

The action is very smooth, although the hammer is fairly heavily sprung to ensure reliable ignition of the rimfire cartridges. Rear sight has a flip up ladder for long-range shooting ( lol ). Trigger is very nice and light for this type of gun. Condition is good for a 55 year-old gun, there are some marks to the surface of the wood (which is nicely figured and fitted very well to the metal) and some marks on the receiver where a previous owner clearly didn't understand how to take the sideplates off. I have let the brass tarnish as I like the vintage look, but it can easily be polished to a very bright shine. Overall a very attractive plinker that always catches people's attention. Uberti do still make these, the current production version of this gun costing £945 from Kranks.

Price is £275 collected in Bournemouth. Section 1 FAC item, slot for a .22 Rifle required. Thanks,

Alex

Still after £250. Here's a picture in natural light showing the lovely bluing on the barrel, lever and hammer, plus the attractive wood grain.

This is now sold. Please check out my Pedersoli .44 Derringer if you're after a small, big-bore pistol at a very reasonable price! https://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=36167

Absolutely a little stunner she is, really like the way one can see the mechanism operate from above.

I have recently joined a new club and this is perfect to shoot there.

As you can see a slight modification to the rifle has been made.

Shout all you want, that it is not in keeping and all that however it works a lot better with the new sight than without.

Thank you, GlockworkOrange, for packing it securely for transport and for selling it to me :good:
