Concentricity gauge - Home workshop.
Just recently finished another concentricity gauge - I think this is No. 9 I've made over the last 3-4 years, all a bit different.

Very nice, I love seeing home made equipment like this!

Love the arbor press and black powder loading tool I don,t suppose you have drawings for them. What material are they made from. I,m guessing stainless if so what grade do you use.
Re: Concentricity gauge - Home workshop.
Mostly aluminium, the vertical rods are stainless. Unfortunately I rarely make any drawing of the stuff I make, I just do rough sketches to see if the idea looks right, if it looks like it might fly then I see what materials I have in stock and scratch away.Alpha1 wrote:Love the arbor press and black powder loading tool I don,t suppose you have drawings for them. This is the sketch idea and result for a .22lr adjustable barrel tuner. I've never seen or heard of one that sits between the barrel and a moderator - it works very well. There's an "O" ring in the brass weight to give friction so it stays where it's set.

Re: Concentricity gauge - Home workshop.
I do 90% of my work on Sketchup these days. It is saved as a hard copy, readily changed and printed and I can email it to myself for secure backup. I can also export as a .dxf for CNC. The other 10% - well part hand sketches on sheets of A5 and part trial and error on the machine :)

This is why I love my job. We use Inventor which is as good as CAD packages get. And included in our licences is a home use install so I can use it for personal projects too!
