Percussion Muskets and Conversions

Morning

One of my pipe-dream guns would be a smoothbore percussion musket, like the converted Brown Besses, the P1838, or the P1842

However, originals are about £3K+ and modern repros are pricey too at about £600-£800, last time I looked anyway, plus, there doesn't seem to be that many of them around in the UK.

I would like to seriously start looking for one next year, so I was wondering - does anyone know if there are any modern (non-Indian) repros around that are sensible money?

Another question comes to mind - I own two repro Brown Besses, and I was wondering - is there any engineer/gunsmith out there that would convert one of mine to percussion? Not a "modern" job, but rather a proper military conversion that they actually did on the Brown Bess musket in the 1830s

I'm thinking that this might be cheaper then buying a complete repro. I haven't got that much disposable cash. It's the law that you have to be scint at 25

I was thinking about converting but I'd have a full discussion with him about all the options, specialist advice can be of some use sometimes and Peter has been around for a while. Knows his stuff and is well respected.
