Ammunition Storage

I've read the HO handbook and am none the wiser regarding ammunition storage.
The bits I've found are in the pics attached.
As I'm moving at some point soon, I'm not planning on keeping the firearms in the house, they'll be secured at the club. Ammunition, however, I'd like to keep at home, as it works out cheaper from what I can see.
In order to do that, I understand I need some kind of safe.
But what I'm not clear on is what the rules are regarding location, whether it has to be attached to the house and if so, how?
If there's any info you can point me toward it would be much appreciated.

Phone your FEO and ask him. They are the ones that will sign it off.

I would suspect a BS relevant cabinet secured to your house, and out of sight of casual visitors.

I use good quality digital safes, bolted to the floor, wall and each other and my FEO is OK with them however, as stated above, best to ask first.

But A 3 gun cabinet, fix it properly and then you can store ammo in that, and your gun if you ever need to bring it home for any reason

I use a "vanvault outback" for my ammo but I might need to get another one cos it's getting full.

As above- a gun safe with a ammo safe in it is best- and as it will require 2 different keys - it's even more secure.

except most internal sections can be opened with a ball point pen...

Haha very true- although one could probably argue that requiring a crowbar AND a pen is still a slightly larger deterrent than just a crowbar ?!

Plus removing and transporting a large gun safe from a wall is more awkward than an ammo safe the size of a shoe box.

You can get old shotgun safes for £20 of flea bay etc the ones that store the gun in half -they make good ammo safes. I have one will store 3000rnds of 303!

Why would you want such a small ammo safe?

The internal lockbox in the top of my safe I use for rifle bolts to keep them separate. Plus a couple of documents I want to keep safe. If you were just shooting smallbore then you would get a couple of thousand rounds in there. But not much else.
