Handstop Bodge

If you are making it or modifying it, repairing it or restoring it, it goes in here.

Handstop Bodge

#1 Post by Pippin89 »

Had to add a handstop to a Boyds stock for TR. There is no long flat areas to add a anschutz style rail so I had to bodge it. In the end quite happy with it.
Lucky there was a nice flat area exactly where I wanted the handstop. So I routed out an area, undercut it to get a mechanical lock, dropped in the central piece of the handstop which would normally go into the rail and filled the recess up with epoxy.
Quite a nice tidy finish for a cheaply put together target rifle.

I only shoot fullbore TR a handful of times a year so it seemed pointless to spend out on an expensive stock, hence why I went with a Boyds stock. I thought there would be more space on the underside for an anschutz rail but sadly not. This should do the trick for now.
I am planning on a Dolphin build at some point but I need to be shooting more fullbore TR before I can warrant the spend.
