Hi Admins,
any chance I could be given access to the Library - I'm sure there must be loads of info for beginners like me and I'm bound to be asking the same questions that beginners always ask.

The Library is only available to full members, which happens when you have contributed to the forum with 30 meaningful posts.

With respect dromia, how is a complete beginner going to make 30 meaningful posts - I know next to nothing, that's why I joined the Forum in the first place ... to learn.
This is a very ex-clusive sport and extremely difficult to make headway. Thanks for the quick reply.

You seem to be making headway with your post count.
Christel and I have been running this forum since its inception and there are very good reasons for the evolution of our rules.
Not everyone who joins is genuine and the 30 post rule is part of the weeding process.
The contents of the Library can a be font of content for misuse as much as it is a source of learning for genuine new shooters.

OK, I understand (I think) and I'll do the best I can. I assure you I am indeed genuine (but then, I would say that) ... probationary NRA member, booked onto four NRA training courses (hell, they are not cheap!) and keen to break into rifle shooting.
I'll be more patient.
Thanks again.

Why are you paying the NRA these obscene amounts of money. Find a local Club join and do your probationary membership with them it will cost you nothing except the yearly membership fee. You can still go to Bisley to shoot but you don't have to fork out the stupid amounts of money for the training.etonwick wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 5:10 pm OK, I understand (I think) and I'll do the best I can. The Club I belong to has over 150 full members and lots of probationary members all it costs them is the yearly subs. We run our own probationers training course based on the NRA model that gets them to a level that allows them to become full members and apply for a fire arm certificate. It costs them £90 a year to become a Club member. The Club also runs its own NRA RSO and RCO courses in conjunction with the NRA.
Re: New shooters please check out the Library
To be honest, I guess I was a little naive - the NRA came up high on a web search, their training programme looks very professional and I'm a complete novice as an adult shooter. I've tried contacting a couple of clubs in my area but they haven't been that helpful. I guess you live and learn!
