I wouldn’t do anything to it yet, Jeff. Get back in touch with Henry and ask then if their warranty isn’t worth anything…
“ THE HENRY GUARANTEE
From Owner, Anthony Imperato
“Henry owners have my personal guarantee to make certain that they are 100% satisfied with their purchase of our rifles. If you are going to spend your money on a Henry, I can assure you that we will do whatever it takes to make sure that you are happy that you bought a Henry.” - Anthony Imperato”
Then I’d email him.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
Did Henry send the parts under warranty to Viking Arms.
Did they send the barrel.
Did they send tube and new fittings.
If they did just ask them to post them to your local RFD and you can sort it out locally. You don't need to use there gunsmith.
Parts are on the way to Viking from Henry in the USA. Barrel, outer and inner mag tubes and whatever new fittings that are required.
I have no idea what the difference is to mine, I have two, a H002 and a H006 both are different.
The outer mag tubes however look to be the same, a standard cylindrical tube with cut outs for the bullet and locking pin.
I don't know if the new ones have a different fitting method but there's nothing I can see on the exploded parts diagram.
I'll have a go at patching it up using a couple of layers of rigid wall heatsink, there's very little pressure from the inner tube locking pin so I'm not sure why the tube split in the first place.
I know the barrel wouldn't need to be proofed if I wasn't to re-sell it but I'm not sure if Viking can supply it fitted and returned to me without it being proofed.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)
