The link on my previous post explains the alleged history of the term, but I certainly never heard it until around the 80's.

As they say, never let the truth get in the way of a good story. :roll:

To be honest the rivalry between Geordies and Mackems is mainly based in football, of which i have little interest. As the town i live in is more or less equa-distant from both cities there is a 50/50 mix of both so when the Tyneside/Wearside derby is on you're taking you life in your own hands going into town! :roll:
