mmm yes BASC has a course (usually a very expensive course) for just about everything to do with shooting.
Pity they don't have a course explaining how to sell a very expensive side by side shotgun, which nobody wants, because of the pending lead shot ban................ which they themselves set in motion.

The long or the short of it is you will have to start chapping farmers doors asking for permission to shoot on their land. Over the years I have been lucky and have 5 farms and 2 forestry blocks to shoot over at no cost for any of them.
When you get some ground get a letter of permission from the owner and send a copy to your licencing department asking for your FAC to be conditioned for land. If you are lucky enough you might get an open condition meaning that you can then shoot over ground without having to keep asking the police to pass it for you (know as a closed licence).
You could also go down the line of getting your FAC conditioned by buying day shooting but the police usually want to see a few confirmations that you are booking shoots.
Shotguns are not restricted by the police authentication/approval of ground get your SGC and you are ready to go whether clays or live quarry whether paid for or just having the permission from the land owner.

Its cheaper to get into pest control of birds and rabbits than foxes and certainly deer.

If you literally just want to stalk a deer, you can just pay your money and go out and do it with the estates rifle and keeper the same week in most cases.

Getting 'a permission' you're are allowed to shoot deer of your own choosing takes years and years of graft to build up the trust and relationship with the land owner, not to mention the rigmarole of getting the condition on your certificate, which as mentioned can require you to go on a deer stalking course. I've done the DSC 1 course and found it enjoyable, if you're not mates with the local landed gentry its an option to get the ball rolling.

I just want to know what sort of steps to take. to go from pure target shooter, to try out shooting live quarry. I've never killed anything so not even certain if 'd have issues pulling the trigger, but doing it appeals, I'd also really like to know how to process said animal.

I mean even with farm and shooting foxes, what do you even do with the fox?
