This cup is another item from the club armoury that no-one knows anything about or how it came to there. It is silver plate and marked underneath as made by J.H.Potter, Sheffield, Manufacturing silversmith, cutlers, electroplaters. One face is engraved "Pineapple Inn Gun Club, Waterloo, Blyth." The opposite face is engraved "Won for the third time by Robson Turnbull, 20th March 1897". The cup has been well polished over the years as the highlights are worn down a bit. The cup is in good condition with no dents or dings. The rifleman figure on the top, however, has lost a part of his rifle barrel at some time. I looked up the Pineapple Inn in Blyth and found a picture of it showing it as the Pineapple Hotel. It has been closed for many years though. I wonder what happened to Robson Turnbull and how his cup came to be in a gun club armoury in North Yorkshire. If anyone is familiar with Blyth or can provide any further information, please do.
Peter.
