Not seen anything about an 1857 model??

Their 1894 lever action is def. imported and by all accounts very well made, I've almost convinced myself to buy one!

Only dislikes are the 9 round capacity and it being side gate only, I like the mag tube loading on my Henry's so I may get another of those

Being able to mount a scope is the one advantage of a Marlin, the other advantage is the ability to easily clean the rifle from the breech end as the bolt can be slipped out.

In America there is now another lever gun option, the Smith & Wesson 1857 however it may not get imported into UK. The 1857 date is a nod to Smith & Wesson's Volcanic lever action pistol firing rocket ball ammunition.

Yes indeed, 1854, by the time I remebered it was too late to edit the post!

The new Ruger-Marlins are a distict improvement on the Remlins, saw quite a few really poor examples of those on our trips to the USA over the last 20 years or so!

from a cursory glance, it looks exactly like a marlin. just mag tube is a bit different
