New Toy S&W 1854
New toy time
S&W 1854 in 44Mag
Cheek riser and Simmons WTC 1.5-5 added.
Single hole groups at 25yds last night, action is rough but brand new so should smooth out. Loading gate is v.stiff so ordered a Ranger Point Precision replacement in a nice shiny red

Hi Adam
Only put 25 rounds through it so far, 10 to sight in and give the barrel a bit of a run in.
After that it was shooting 3/4" single raggy hole 5 shot groups, using the same load as the Henry with ShellHouse 240gr RNFP bullets.
I've stripped it down and given it a good clean & lube, just waiting for a reduced pressure loading gate to arrive next week as I have big fingers and prefer them not to be bitten
I do wish it had the same mag tube loading option as the Henry but it is what it is, I just fancied a change.
Fit and finish is very good
@Monkeyhanger - Sportsman Gun Centre Ltd is listed on the S&W site as the UK commercial distributor

If you took the scope off and the recoil pad maybe I could get away with it. A bit of overkill for 25 yards me thinks. But its your choice if it floats your boat go for it. Not my cup of tea.

Tidy. Do the insides resemble a Marlin?
