600 yard range day

Our next shoot is a 600 yard range day its a MOD range normally I would shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor with out any issues or a Tikka 6.5x55 or may be a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser that we have been shooting for the last 40 year on MOD ranges that are now banned for what ever reason.
So do I go or just give it up as a bad job.
I went up into the Gun room at the top of the House to be honest I dont venture into there to often now a days.
I had a look at what was on offer reluctanly I found and fitted a scope mount to a No4 and a scope that really belongs on a 6.6 Creedmoor for long distance shooting but its all I have.
I read an interesting article in one of the magazines about the Ruger ranch rifle in 7.62x39 so I looked back through my re loading data and gave it a go not sure it will work at 600 yards but what the Hell.
I also read an article in the Sporting Gun Mag regarding the ATA sporting rifles for very little money I am thinking I could buy a .308 for under a £1000 pounds and bin the Creedmoor and 6.5 Calibers.
I understand they also do Shot guns any one had any of there kit if so what are your opinions.

Curious if your intention is to try the new rifle/scope combo off the bat on your MOD range day?

Normally I don't have access to any ranges over 100 yards I live in the North East of England l can access indoor 25 yard ranges but maybe if I am lucky twice a year I might get to shoot at 600 yards. I know the set up with my 6.5 Creedmoor my 6.5x55 Tikka but they are banned. I can,work out distances with the No4 I am not sure the 7.62x39 will be up to the job but it's now wearing a very expensive scope that came of the Creedmoor. I will be surounded by some very experienced shooters who shoot at stupid distances on a regular basis so I will have help.
I might not get to shoot at this distance again this year.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do there Alpha. Are you saying you want to shoot 7.62x39 in your 7.62 No4 Enfield?

No that's not what I am saying but it doesn't matter because I have decided not to bother going I am going to spend the day in my Shed/Workshop doing some thing I enjoy that makes me money and is now a higher priority for me than any thing to do with Firearms.

The Work shop is a 5 minute walk down the garden as apposed to a one hour drive to the range. The Work Shop is quite place with no drama Tea and Coffee on tap and a great view of Mother nature. It's a no brainer.

he has one of the Aussie AIA no4 type rifles that was bult in 7.62x39 - same type of gun youtuber bloke on the range has and refers to as 'frankenrifle'

Yes two totally different rifles.
A Lee Enfield .303 now fitted with a Parker Hale mount and a very expensive scope. Looks horrible I don't even want to pick it up. Yuk.
A AIA Australian Arms carbine In 7.62x39 that comes fitted with a scope base now sporting a Vortex scope.
I looked at them both side by side then quickly locked them away and retired to the Shed/Workshop and put the kettle on.

Ahh - See where you're coming from now and yes, fully understand the appeal of a few hours in the workshop rather than two or three hours battling round the M25. I've only shot the 7.62x39 in the AK47 but would imagine it's quite pleasant to shoot in an Enfield, would be quite nice in a Mk5.
