DEACTIVATED!

Apparently the previous owner a member of the clergy had owned it for many years and gave up due to failing eye sight, so they deactivated it. Sad sad thing to see.

Drool ......, id be interested to see if that rear sight base is sweated to the barrel or not. Never really looked at the 41's, but picked one up the other day and liked the idea, and thought I could get one just as a shorter range sniper.

I have often wondered if this set up is really as accurate as with the more conventional scope....any thoughts ??

I have peered through them but never shot one, personally I liked it and although you have a very small field of view it did seem to work well. I shot a couple of German owned KAR98 Snipers last month in Denmark, both all original and both very nice, superb condition in fact. The first of the two was incredibly accurate and a delight to shoot, as good as I have ever shot in fact. The second one was nice but did not display the same level of accuracy for me. Both were shot on milsurp.

Sadly my German is all but non existent and they spoke little English so I could not ask much about the provenance or source of the rifles however we did agree to meet up next year and spend a day on clays (I think this was the third year we have met and they still decline to shoot rifles with me :? )

I like the scout scope setup, it's very good for quick target acquistion. My scout rifle has a 2.5x30 scope on it and it's good enough for me out to 400m. With practice or a high mag scope I'd be able shoot accurately out further. For me if I can hit the target then the rifle is accurate!

The view through the scope has been described as looking at a TV down a long corridor, which might take some getting used too.

As far as I know the ZF41 with 1.bowl magnifying power was never intended for "snipers" but more as a "sharp-shooting" tool at squad/section level to take out designated targets and therefore can't realy be compare/put in the same class as conventional scope.

I've been told by friends of mine that this is not an original combination, aparantly these scopes were never fitted to G33/40's and that this is a post war mod, however if this is the case it's been bloody well done
