Re: Hi
I use the 42XBR Nightforce on my F Open rifle and for the most get on OK with it. The only thing I am not overly happy with is the multiple turn turrets and I keep meaning to make stop ring so it only winds down to the zero. Maybe that will be tomorrows project
Re: Hi
Put the elevation drum on your zero, slide some feelers between the bottom of the drum and the body or use a vernier to measure how far up it is (It needs to be accurate!) Send me the dimension plus the diameter of the inner drum and I will pop a couple in the post for you. I was going to make mine out of aluminium so if I am to make one I may as well make two.

Wow!, your a gentleman, that sounds excellent.ovenpaa wrote:Put the elevation drum on your zero, slide some feelers between the bottom of the drum and the body or use a vernier to measure how far up it is (It needs to be accurate!) I won't get a chance to do it tomorrow as I'm away early shooting at the midlands range / national shooting centre but I'll drop you a pm on Monday if that's ok.
PS did you ever check out the ballistic turrets offered by this crowd? I know you still need to take into account your variables; wind, slope etc but would be a great hunting addition.

Re: Hi
Nope, I had not heard of them so thanks for the link. I would expect your inner turret diameter to be the same as on my 42X and I will post the measurement up in a bit.
I will see how mine goes today, I might build .010" over length and then fine tune with some 1000 grade wet and dry. I will report back

Re: Hi
So this is what it looks like. I will black the spacer ring and add an index mark so I can visually count the number of minutes up.
Internal diameter is 0.855"
External diameter is 0.900"
So if your inner turret is .850" then all well and good because the work piece is still in the lathe ready to have a couple more rings parted off. I measured the required heigh for mine at .590" and built to that and then fine tuned the length with a bit of 500 grit wet and dry to get a perfect height.
The pictures show the spacer prior to cleaning up, the spacer ring in place and finally the turret fitted. Yes I know my turrets look manky, the flash picks up all sorts of things...
